Tracks & Sync Of The Month: September

At the beginning of each month, we take a moment to look back at a number of sync-friendly songs that were recently synced or released. Sit back, relax and listen to (or watch) our Tracks of the Month!

United And Emirates – Come Fly With Us
Song: Come Fly With Me
Artist: Frank Sinatra
Start date: September 14th, 2022

To announce the new strategic partnership between United Airlines and Emirates, the two international airlines “landed” on musical accompaniment that sounds very spot on: ‘Come fly with me’ (or in this case: “us”). Obviously this is not the first time Frank Sinatra’s classic has been featured in commercial content that literally relates to flying. The song has regularly been featured in series and films that contain air travel scenes and it even became the title track of an entire BBC documentary about Pan Am, ten years ago. So, despite this not being the most original song choice – why change a winning team?

Interesting: one of the two songwriters was an actual pilot during WW II.

M.I.A. – Beep
M.I.A is a British hip-hop artist who might have sync to thank for her global breakthrough. One of her earlier singles ‘Paper Planes’ was featured on the soundtracks of both ‘Pineapple Express’ and the Oscar-winning film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, making this her biggest hit (+/- 1 billion streams) to date.

Her latest single ‘Beep’ was released several days ago and has already been announced as one of the bangers on the official FIFA 23 soundtrack. What could the next sync be?

Keywords: powerful, energetic, raw

RONDÉ – Bright Eyes
The Dutch band RONDÉ is doing well in The Netherlands. In recent years they became ‘Serious Talent’ and scored the ‘Megahit’ on Dutch radio station 3FM, thanks to their catchy single ‘Run’. Fellow local DJ duo East & Young turned their popular single into a danceable remix, that ended up being used in an “end of Summer” campaign for Heineken. RONDÉ’s recent single ‘Bright Eyes’ contains the same amount of energy, as does their previous self-acceptance anthem ‘Love Myself’. Bring on the next campaign!

Keywords: feel good, empowering, infectious

Fred again.. – Danielle (smile on my face)
The British producer Fred again.. has been a rising star in the electronic dance industry for years and is definitely here to stay since his Boiler Room debut in London last July. His set quickly became one of the most watched Boiler Room videos of the past year, resulting in a packed show at Lowlands festival, and the announcement of a solo show in the AFAS Live – one of The Netherlands’ biggest venues – which ended up selling out within minutes. Fred’s music has already been featured on different tv shows, but the world of advertising is yet to discover him. Going once…

Keywords: up-tempo, electronic, dance

Angèle – Amour, Haine & Danger

When both of your parents work in the entertainment industry and your older brother is the famous Belgian rapper Roméo Elvis, a major musical career of your own basically becomes your destiny. Two years ago Angèle released the hit single ‘Fever’ with none other than pop icon Dua Lipa, kickstarting her international career – despite singing in French herself. Her latest soon-to-be-hit single ‘Amour, Haine & Danger’ is obviously heavily influenced by Stromae, whom she has claimed to be one of her biggest inspirations.

Besides her musical success, the songstress has proven popular on-screen too. She played the leading role in a Spring-Summer 2020 Eyewear Campaign by Chanel, which she has a larger commercial partnership with, and Netflix even launched a documentary about her career last year!

Keywords: modern, quirky, motivational
